With an ecology ever threatened by urbanisattion, ordinary objects have the ability to evoke memories of, and speak to, the concepts of identity, gender, displacement, longing and home. The commonly understood (esp in India) cow dung panes, most organic benign material, transposed into porcelain, a precious material, immortalizes the hand impression of their maker. The installation questions, among other things, the very notion of “purity” associated in India, with the cow as well as the color white.
