The act of putting ink on paper opens up a powerful vulnerability of sharing emotions. Archival letters of Khorshed Gandhy, written across decades make this act of vulnerability an everyday practice. As Aditi Singh delved into these letters, she remembers that, “words that emerge through the erasure are what I sometimes think of as tender discoveries, descriptions whose ‘finding’ in some small way rearranges understanding”. This duality of the presence and absence brings out an essence of what remains timeless. Her detailed reading of these texts ensures that intimacies of Khoshed’s personal being, this yearning to belong, self reflectiveness, and search for joy, is not just for the generations reading these texts right now, like you, but also for the generations before and after you.
