"In these oil paintings, Anju Dodiya has rendered intimate moments of family, motherhood and love. Working with images from one family’s photo album, she lets the viewer recall and bask in the warmth of their own close ones. There are everyday gestures - a hand at the back of one's neck, a hand at the crook of an elbow, hands clasped together in familiarity and sometimes, casually grasping in a reaffirmation of friendship.
With Khorshed Gandhy as the main protagonist, Anju allows us to walk further into the past and into the future to bear witness to the continuity of a woman's selfhood and passion, and the lives interweaved."
