L N Tallur’s work, Floccinaucinihilipilification is "a discrepancy between the actual experience of the organism and the self-picture of the individual insofar as it represents that experience.” This pair of prototypes or maquettes of recast, morphed, commercial antiques are as much preparatory drawings, prior to a painting or a sculpture. The artist has, however, worked on these ‘prototypes’ to its absolute end… The use of digital markings, embossed on the bronze sculptures create a tension between this exactness and an illusionary incompleteness – markings that might for a moment indicate that the work is perhaps pieced together. The artist thus plays with the idea of the discrepancy of finished versus unfinished, perfection versus imperfection, handmade verus machine-made.
