This group show, a fitting occasion to usher in the summer season, marks the first chapter of Gallery Chemould's year long programme of 4 exhibitions, each comprising 5 artists.
Accordingly, when taken together, the central impulses of the first batch - Madhvi Parekh, Amit Ambalal, Jogen Chowdhury, Jayashree Chakravarty and Arpita Singh - could perhaps best be seen as a "fragmented whole," a collage in which each part is highly individualistic and invested with a distinctive style, yet implying a common attitude and sensibility.
